Daniel McCook Jr. (1834-1864) was a member of the "Fighting McCook" family of Ohio. He was mortally wounded leading a charge at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia, on June 27, 1864. The Army posthumously promoted him to brigadier general. The McCook Family of Carroll County, Ohio, was nicknamed "The Fighting McCooks" because of its service during the Civil War.
